LIVE TEXT: MotoGP™ Jerez Test updates

All the latest from the 2024 MotoGP™ Jerez Test that takes place at the Circuito de Jerez-Angel Nieto

Following another magnificent MotoGP™ weekend at the Gran Premio Estrella Galicia 0,0 de España, it's time to swap racing for testing as the premier class partake in a one-day Official Test at the Circuito de Jerez-Angel Nieto.

Keep up with all the latest from what's going on right here with our live text updates:

18:05 - Cheers for your time, MotoGP™ fans. Hopefully you found this useful and maybe, ever so slightly, entertaining. Remember, you can watch interviews and highlights from the Jerez Test on motogp.com, and there will be a report up too. See you in Le Mans!

18:00 - Chequered flag! That's a wrap for the 2024 Jerez Test. Diggia ends Monday top of the timesheets, Viñales and Morbidelli sit inside the top three, while Zarco bags the most laps trophy with a whopping 88. On the other hand, Pecco clocked the least with a total of 43.

17:57 - Maverick adds to the pain! BatMav (sorry) leaves it late to pocket P2, 0.087s off Diggia's time. I think - he says with caution - that might be your lot.

17:55 - Binder goes P5, and the sound of journalists who have started writing their reports (me included) sighing rings around the Circuito de Jerez-Angel Nieto and beyond. Viñales is also now on a PB, let's see where he climbs to.

17:50 - Final 10 minutes folks! Not a lot happening towards the pointy end of the timesheets, but Miller and Taka have set PB laps. Unfortunately it looks like Augusto Fernandez has gone down at Turn 7, glad to report he's all OK.

17:30 - That's enough of praising colleagues, back to the serious stuff. 30 minutes left on the clock and this is how we're looking. Not much has changed, let's see if any time attacks land in the closing half an hour. One thing to note: Martin has crashed at Turn 9.

17:26 - Another new tech post, get in! A final round-up of the day from Mr Gorst, who has been on the ground in Jerez casting his expert eye on the details. Hit that link to have a read and also to see his photography efforts. Not bad for an amateur, right? Top work amigo.

17:18 - With just over 40 mins to go, Acosta and Rins are the latest riders to set personal best laps. Pedro is currently P11, 0.4s adrift, with Alex P14 and 0.6s off P1. Some signs of promise for Yamaha?

17:10 - 68 laps completed for Pol today and just over a second off top spot as things stand. Great to have the #44 back on track and looking like his old self. Great pic, KTM.

17:05 - Movement! Into the last hour and Morbidelli has closed the gap to Diggia at the top, with 0.122s splitting the Italians. Are we going to get a flurry of time attacks at the close of play?

16:34 - 90 mins to go. Not much movement in terms of improvements in time, but the laps are still being churned out. Taka, clearly reading this, has improved his time now though - he's the leading Honda rider in P17.

16:14 - Taka pulled into the pits anyway. What a tease. The highs and lows of staring at Live Timing during tests illustrated right there.

16:10 - NO! Live Timing freezes, meaning we're left wondering what Taka's lap time was. He was on a very decent PB halfway around the lap!

15:55 - Just over two hours to go and the top of the timesheets remains unchanged, with Diggia still leading the way. Some riders have crept over the 60-lap mark (over double race distance) and the rider currently boasting the most laps is Quartararo with a 67-lap haul. Not bad going.

15:15 - We're into the final three hours and we have a busy track again. Some very important laps are coming up this afternoon.

14:50 - A small nugget of info from Yamaha's Meregalli about the Iwata factory's priorities at the Jerez Test:

The two biggest things that needed to be tested and evaluated are the aero package, the one we want to homologate as soon as possible based on the feeling of the riders, and a different chassis

Maio Meregalli

14:34 - Just before lunch, Bezzecchi suffered a crash at Turn 5. Good to see the Italian is all OK because you don't have slow crashes there.

14:27 - ICYMI, here's the midday live catch up from Jerez!

It looks like most are still enjoying a spot of lunch in the Spanish sun. I'd do the same, but it's raining in Barcelona.

13:44 - Time for a spot of lunch. Most riders are in pitlane after a busy few hours, which means it's a good time to go live to Jerez and hear what's been going on so far. Simon Crafar and Jack Gorst will be joined by Yamaha Team Manager Maio Meregalli to chat about Yamaha's new bike, and the loveable duo will also give us a rundown of everything else they've spotted at 14:00 across our social media channels.

13:25 - Raul Fernandez heads out on the factory Aprilia. A lot of us will be intrigued to hear what the Spaniard has to say about the differences between his '23-spec RS-GP and the '24-spec.

13:00 - Three hours down now and we have a new leader - Di Giannantonio! The Italian has climbed his way to top spot thanks to a 1:36.405, with Morbidelli 0.156s adrift in second place. Pecco, Marc Marquez and Binder round out our top five with just under five hours left on the stopwatch.

12:43 - New tech post alert! If you haven't already seen pictures of Yamaha's updated package, then hit the link to have a gander.

12:28 - Yamaha teasing us with a nice edit of some early Quartararo laps. No sign of the new bike though, which is upsetting (but understandable).

12:11 - To quote our roaming reporter Jack Gorst: "Martin's GP24 just went bang on the front straight." Not what the World Championship leader had planned.

12:00 - Two hours ticked off and we've got a change at the summit. Pecco leads Binder by 0.2s thanks to a 1:36.589, with Marquez shuffled down to P3. Viñales is now P4 and to the surprise of absolutely no one, he's also clocked the most laps so far - 30 of them.

11:45 - OK, we're nearly two hours into the day, so here's a brief rundown of the main parts our guys on the ground have spotted:

- APRILIA: Aleix has the new ride height device that Lorenzo Savadori raced during the GP, while Raul Fernandez (Trackhouse Racing) is giving the 2024-spec RS-GP a go as expected.

- DUCATI: Race winner Pecco Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo Team) is trying different geometry settings, with Franco Morbidelli (Prima Pramac Racing) running through some ergonomic set ups.

- HONDA: Stefan Bradl's completely new RC213Vs have made their way into the LCR box. Zarco and Nakagami have one each to test. Luca Marini (Repsol Honda Team) has one of the updated chassis to test, while Mir (so far) has two standard 2024 bikes in his garage.

- KTM/GASGAS: Nothing noticeable so far.

- YAMAHA: BIG new aero. They've debuted a triple-element front wing in a similar style to what they have now. If you hop across to social media, you'll see what we mean.

11:16 - Things we love to see (no, not another tech group post yet): Pol Espargaro back on track testing with Red Bull KTM Factory Racing!

11:14 - Now we're talking! After just an hour and 15 minutes into the day, we have our first MotoGP™ Tech Group post.

11:06 - Right, that's the first hour done then. Every rider has been for a morning outing now and so far it's Fabio Di Giannantonio (Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team) sitting P2 behind the eight-time World Champion, with Oliveira and Aleix Espargaro (Aprilia Racing) nudging Alex Marquez to P5.

10:45 - As morning showers go, that's a pretty good one. After Sunday's second place finish, Gresini Racing's Marc Marquez goes P1 on Monday morning. A 1:36.826 puts the #93 0.6s clear of his teammate Alex Marquez.

10:30 - A few more riders have rolled out of pitlane now. Takaaki Nakagami (Idemitsu Honda LCR), Brad Binder (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing), Fabio Quartararo (Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP™, Miguel Oliveira (Trackhouse Racing), Pedro Acosta (Red Bull GASGAS Tech3), Alex Marquez (Gresini Racing MotoGP™) and Jack Miller (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) are back to the grind.

10:13 - I wouldn't fancy receiving a glare like that from Joan Mir, but I would like to be inside the Repsol Honda box today and see what they're up to. It's a huge day for HRC and Yamaha as they get set to test plenty of new bits today in Jerez.

10:05 - Five mins in and the first riders out on track are Maverick Viñales (Aprilia Racing) and Johann Zarco (Castrol Honda LCR). We can confirm, according to our trusty sources, the weather is "perfect". Happy days!

09:45 - As well as our live updates, Live Timing is available so you can keep an eye on the lap times as they're set. In addition, there will be a social media live with our two tech gurus that probably woke up this morning feeling like it was Christmas Day again - Simon Crafar and Jack Gorst. That's coming to you at 14:00 local time (UTC +2).

A report, highlights and interviews will be on motogp.com later too. Jump here for more info!

09:30 - Hello and a very good morning from the Circuito de Jerez-Angel Nieto (well, Barcelona for us, but you get the gist). Recovered from yesterday's Spanish GP showdown between Pecco and Marc yet? No, we haven't either. What a race day it was! However, it's time to switch into 'Test Mode' as an important day lies ahead. Here's what's on the rider's agendas for today's Jerez Test.
